I have disappeared from
blogland because the FLU got us and it got us good. I thought
Cassidy and I were going to be able to side step getting the flu but it caught up with us Friday. It was quite an ordeal with
Cassidy because if an infant under 2 months gets a fever above 100.4 they need to go to the ER. I have been stressing about this happening all week and sure enough her temperature hit over 100.4. We took her to the pediatrician first and they confirmed that she did have the flu. However, because she had a fever they wanted to be 100% certain that the fever was coming from the flu and not something more serious. So Ryan and I (both of us being sick by the way) took
Cassidy to the ER at the Children's hospital. There
Cassidy had to have some tests done, one being a Spinal Tap. Yeah that freaked me out. I didn't really want my teeny tiny baby to have that done to her but we needed to be sure that there was no other reason that she might be
fevering. We ended up being in the hospital for 10 hours. It was so exhausting and emotional. Plus we both were so sick.
Cassidy handled everything quite well. The initial results came back normal but her white blood cell count was on the high end of normal so they opted to give her some antibiotics. We were grateful for that because then we knew that she was covered in case there was something more serious wrong with her. The final results weren't given to us until yesterday. Everything came back normal. She is doing a lot better now. This is a picture of her with her little IV in. Isn't it so sad?

We had planned to have Cassidy's blessing this Sunday. My parents and Ryan's parents had come for it. Instead of postponing the blessing we decided to get permission to do it at home. Not what I had planned but you do what you have to. So Sunday morning before church Ryan, my dad, Ryan's dad and Dave gave Cassidy a name and a blessing. And her name still is Cassidy Rose. Ryan even held her up afterwards for everyone to see her just like they do at church. She wore Lacey's blessing dress. I love the dress. So the whole event didn't really go as I had planned in my mind but it for sure will be memorable.

In all of this craziness I am grateful that my mom and dad were in town to take care of all of us especially the kids while we were at the hospital. If we were to get this sick this was the week to do it.

WEll, even tho you didn't get to show her off at church, you were able to get it done with the family there, and keep her safe from all the church germs..........and create a memory that will last forever.
She looks absolutely beautiful in that dress. I love the picture.
I'm glad you've had family to help. Again, please call if you need anything... I know your parents and in laws are both gone now. I'm glad that everything turned out at the hospital ok and that the blessing was a memorable one! :)
