Now on to Preschool

Lacey started preschool today at the same school Aidan went to. She was so thrilled. She woke up today at 6:30 with Aidan ready to go. She kept skipping around the house saying she is so excited. We put her in a cute new outfit and took some glamour shots of her first big day.

When we dropped her off I asked if she wanted me to walk her in or if she just wanted to run in herself. She wanted to be like Aidan and just go up to the house herself. She ran as fast as she could but stopped to give us one last wave. I was so excited for her. She loved preschool and such a great time. Ryan and I had just Cassidy for 3 hours and we really didn't know what to do with ourselves. Why did we ever think having one kid was hard? Seriously.

It has been cute to see Lacey come to the realization that preschool is her thing now. I took her to the open house and she just did not seem excited at all. That is so unlike her. I started to think maybe I hadn't explained to her well enough that SHE was now the one going to preschool. When I told her that she would be the one jumping out of the car and running up to preschool, and that she would be the one having snacks and craft projects the wheels in her mind started turning and you could see her figuring it out. It was pretty cute. Now she understands SHE gets to go to school.

First Day of School....I survived!

Ready for the first day of school. Where is that darn bus? (It was 30 minutes late) FINALLY!!!! Sad mom and excited Aidan.
Just off the bus! I loved kindergarten! It was so fun.
The next few pictures were taken at the open house on Monday.

In front of his school!

I can't wait for school!

So here is a little of the story. As soon as Aidan woke up Tuesday morning he was concerned about waking up on time for school today so Ryan set our alarm for 6:30 a.m. yesterday morning just to make Aidan stop worrying. Well, he still was worried all day about it. Especially when we tried to get him to go to bed. He was so worried about missing the bus. I had to lay down with him so his little mind would settle down and he could fall asleep. I remember being so excited I couldn't sleep the night before too.
This morning Ryan woke him up and he sat up with a jolt. He was so happy that the day was finally here. We got all ready and took the whole family down to the bus stop to see him off. Unfortunately the bus was 30 minutes late. After about 25 minutes of waiting Aidan was just plain ticked off so he stomped off and headed for home. It was so funny. He was like, "hey, I'm done. I tried to go to school and the bus didn't come so I'm out." He was half way home when the bus came. He ran back excited as ever. Five other neighbor kids ride with him so it was easy for him to hop on and feel comfortable. Once he was on and the bus took off, he gave me the cutest smile and wave through the window. Like, here I go mom! I tried to catch the pic but missed it. At least I will always have the image in my mind though. He was gone and I walked across the street to Ryan and the tears began. Well, they really began last night, okay really they started 2 weeks ago, but I cried all the way back to the house and then a couple more times that morning.
We didn't do anything all day and I think we were just waiting for Aidan to return home. Aidan returned home about 3:00. I picked him up from the bus stop and he had the biggest smile on his face. He knows he is doing BIG kid things now and loves it. He had a great first day and said Kindergarten is fun. He met some new friends and loved riding on the bus. So it was a successful first day. Aidan loved it and I eventually stopped crying.
Side note: Lacey kept asking me all day if I was still crying. I told her I was crying in my heart. She said, "You need to stop crying and be happy. If you stop crying in your heart I will buy you a pink phone for your birthday." So, that was it. I stopped crying.

Tuesday Top Ten

Top Ten Reasons Why Aidan should NOT start kindergarten tomorrow!

1. Lacey is expecting to go shopping everyday Aidan is in school and I just can't afford that
even though that is exactly what I want to do too.
2. He has to ride a bus 12 miles each way and that is plenty of time to learn naughty words.
3. 6:30 is just way too early to be getting up to catch a 7:10 bus. I will miss our lazy morning
snuggles.
4. He is my baby!
5. I think he will starve at school because I highly doubt he will eat his lunch on his own unless I
just pack a bunch of Cheetos and that's it.
6. I will just plain miss him.
7. GERMS. I am so not looking forward to all the little sicknesses he is going to get from
school and if he EVER comes home with head lice, that's it, he will be home-schooled for the
rest of his life.
8. I don't know if I can handle joining the PTA. That means I'm old.
9. I am already burned out on all the school forms and newsletters. Read and sign, read and
sign. What a bunch of busy work.
10. Did I already say he is my baby?

Utah: Day 3 Children's Museum (July 25th)

Today we went to the Children's Museum in Salt Lake. We had such a great time. It was three floors of just fun. We were there for 3 hours.

Aidan loved the construction zone. He thought the crane and bulldozer were just SO cool.

Lacey loved playing in kitchen in the little house. She made me some great cooked lettuce as you can see. It was so cute to see her just working away. I wanted to go home right that minute and remodel my house so I could make her the same little kitchen. Every little girl needs a playhouse right?

They had the famous green screen from the weather and also the news desk of KSL. Cameras were set up and a tv monitor so they could see themselves on the news.

Aidan was a natural climbing the rock wall while Lacey on the other hand needed a little help.

A Life flight Helicopter was outside for the kids to play in.
Some of the other exhibits were about art and science, a small grocery store, a huge water area to play in with little balls, a maze of tubes that sucked up balls, kind of like at a bank drive thru, a gas station. I mean it just went on for days.
The kids had a blast but we were so tired after we couldn't even walk ourselves back to the car.
We slept well that night.

Utah: Day 2 (July 24th)

This day we went to a fabulous city pool. There were 4 pools with all sorts of fun things. Slides, squirty things, lazy rivers and one pool was outside with a pirate ship in it. My kids have become fish of sorts so they had a BLAST. It was a hot day but it didn't seem too bad to me. Later I found out it was 98 degrees. It is amazing how good dry heat can feel. So different than our humid Kentucky.

Also today I introduced my children to PURE GOODNESS! Frozen Custard at Neilson's. They are called Concretes. It is simply devine. The kids loved it and so did Miss Cassidy. Delish!

Western Tour '08- Utah

DAY ONE: July 23rd

Disclaimer: These are some of those posts you debate posting because most people won't really care nor really read the whole thing. But on the flip side this is my journal and documentations so it is really more for me, right?

I was getting burnt out of my life in Kentucky so I took to the airways and started my Western Tour early. I'm glad I did because I made my first flight with a straight shot to SLC. Plus it gave me some extra time in Utah with my mom and dad. Man oh man we hit the ground runnin' that day. It was the day before the Big 24th of July celebration that happens in Salt Lake. Well, Bountiful celebrates on the 23rd so there was a big to do in Bountiful. First, we plotted out our seats for the parade that evening. You can just set up your chairs and blankets and LEAVE them there. No camping out or sitting for hours and hours. Isn't that great? Definitely in UTAH. Then we went to a little carnival that was going on at the local park. The kids rode a pony
and some other fun rides and we ate some yummy food. Cassidy about tackled me to get her hands on the snow cone I was eating. It was so funny. I couldn't decide if she was hungry, hot, or just loves snow cones. After we were done there we headed to the parade. It was in the evening but it was still hot. The kids loved it, mostly for the candy. I never have seen Lacey so into something before. She was scoping out every piece of candy that hit the pavement. Needless to say we got tons. Plus all the adults around us were collecting things for my kids. We got a Frisbee and two stuffed animals.

A lot of the same floats that were in the big parade in SLC came to this smaller parade the day before.

That night there were fireworks that were launched at a park one block from my parents' house. Aidan didn't quite make it. He zonked. Lacey hated the loud noises so she opted for falling asleep too. I enjoyed them though. I don't think I have ever seen fireworks that close from inside the HOUSE! It was awesome to just sit on the balcony and watch them. I wished my kids had made it to seeing them but it was midnight to us and we had been up since 4 a.m.
