Western Tour '08- Utah

DAY ONE: July 23rd

Disclaimer: These are some of those posts you debate posting because most people won't really care nor really read the whole thing. But on the flip side this is my journal and documentations so it is really more for me, right?

I was getting burnt out of my life in Kentucky so I took to the airways and started my Western Tour early. I'm glad I did because I made my first flight with a straight shot to SLC. Plus it gave me some extra time in Utah with my mom and dad. Man oh man we hit the ground runnin' that day. It was the day before the Big 24th of July celebration that happens in Salt Lake. Well, Bountiful celebrates on the 23rd so there was a big to do in Bountiful. First, we plotted out our seats for the parade that evening. You can just set up your chairs and blankets and LEAVE them there. No camping out or sitting for hours and hours. Isn't that great? Definitely in UTAH. Then we went to a little carnival that was going on at the local park. The kids rode a pony
and some other fun rides and we ate some yummy food. Cassidy about tackled me to get her hands on the snow cone I was eating. It was so funny. I couldn't decide if she was hungry, hot, or just loves snow cones. After we were done there we headed to the parade. It was in the evening but it was still hot. The kids loved it, mostly for the candy. I never have seen Lacey so into something before. She was scoping out every piece of candy that hit the pavement. Needless to say we got tons. Plus all the adults around us were collecting things for my kids. We got a Frisbee and two stuffed animals.


A lot of the same floats that were in the big parade in SLC came to this smaller parade the day before.

That night there were fireworks that were launched at a park one block from my parents' house. Aidan didn't quite make it. He zonked. Lacey hated the loud noises so she opted for falling asleep too. I enjoyed them though. I don't think I have ever seen fireworks that close from inside the HOUSE! It was awesome to just sit on the balcony and watch them. I wished my kids had made it to seeing them but it was midnight to us and we had been up since 4 a.m.
